Surah Al_Kafirun Translation and Tafsir in English

Chapter No {109}.    Surah Al_Kafirun    [The Disbelievers]

Quran Surah

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.        "بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم"

                                 قل يأيها الكفرون

1."O Prophet, say, "O you unbelievers!"

Walid Ibn Mughirah, As Ibn Wa'il, Aswad Ibn'Abdul-Muttalib, and Umayyah Ibn Khalaf approached the Messenger of Allah and suggested a compromise to him, saying that he should worship their idols for a year and they would worship Allah for a year. This is according to Ibn Ishaq's report from Sayyidna Ibn'Abbas. That the pagans of Makkah made the following offer to the Prophet of Allah (PBUH): We will give you enough wealth to make you the richest man in Makkah; we will give you any woman you choose in marriage; and we are willing to follow and obey you as our leader provided that you do not disparage our gods. If you disagree,

Upon this, Jibra'il (علیہ السلام) descended with Surah Al-Kafirun

This Surah instructs Muslims to worship only, rejecting all forms of pagan worship, and is known as the Surah of disavowal from the deeds of the pagans.

Meccan Surah

                               2."You don't worship what I do,"

                           3."and I don't worship what you do."

4."Never will you worship what I worship,"

5."and never will I worship what you worship."

(I do not worship the same thing that you do,) The statements are repeated in this Surah. Different authorities have provided different explanations for the repeating. According to Bukhari, many commentators read two identical or almost identical sentences as referring to events that are currently occurring and those that will occur in the future. There isn't any pointless repetition as a result. In the second and third verses, the phrase "I do not worship at this time what you worship, nor do you worship at this time what I worship" is used to allude to the present. I worship just Allah and believe in His Oneness, whereas you believe in many gods

6."I have my way, and you have yours."

The proposed compromise or peace accord is unacceptable because "for you is your faith, and for me, my faith." I will continue to practise my faith, and you are free to do the same while experiencing its terrible repercussions.
