Chapter No {113}. Surah Al_Falaq [Daybreak]
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
قل أعوذ برب الفلق
1. Declare: "I seek safety with the Lord of the dawn."
Falaq, according to Jabir, denotes morning. "Cleaver of the morning" is a phrase from the Qur'an itself (Al-Qur'an 6:96). Falaq, according to Ibn 'Abbas, means creation. Falaq, according to Ka'ab al-Ahbar, is a location in Hell. Due to the heat of Hell, every inhabitant cries out when its gate is opened. It appears natural that Ibn Jarir and Imam Bukhari would claim that it meant daybreak. Allah commands his followers to seek refuge in the Falaq's Lord.
من شر ما خلق
2. "From the evil of what He has created"
From the evil He has created and to find safety from the evil He has produced. Hell, Iblis (Satan), and his descendants are all parts of his creation.
و من شر غا سق اذا وقب
3."And from the evil of the darkening as it comes with its darkness"
Ibn Zayd claims that the Arabs referred to the Pleiades' rise and setting as Ghasiq and held the belief that both times saw an increase and spread of sickness. The word Ghasiq, according to some interpreters, signifies moon.
They support this claim with a Hadith stating that the Prophet once grasped A'ishah's hand and commanded her to "seek refuge from the wickedness of this Ghasiq" while pointing to the moon. [Imam Ahmad] The moon rising and stargazing, on the other hand, are nighttime occurrences.
ومن شر النفثت فى العقد
4."And from the evil of those who practise witchcraft when they blow in the knots,"
ومن شر حاسد إذا حسد
5. "And from the evil of the envier when he envies."
According to Ahmad ibn Hanbal, the Prophet was possessed by a Jew and stayed thus for a number of days. Then Gabriel appeared to him and told him that a certain Jew had charmed him and put a rope in a certain well. To send someone to get it, he requested from him. The magic was broken when the Prophet dispatched someone to bring them back, untied them, and released them. The Jew was never told about it by the Prophet, and neither was he angry with him.
A hadith from 'Aishah was reported by Bukhari. She related how the Prophet believed he had visited his wives when in fact he had not when he had been tricked by a magic spell. I begged my Lord, and He showed me, he once stated to me. Two people arrived, one of whom sat close to my head and the other close to my knees. What has happened to this man, inquired the man seated next to my head. He declared, "He's under a spell." Who was the bewitcher, he questioned? Labid ibn A'sim from the Bani Zurayq tribe, he replied.
They support the Jewish cause. What has charmed, the man enquired? The comb and the hair, the other retorted. When he inquired where they were, they said, "In the well of Dharwan, under a rock. The goods were dug out after the Prophet dispatched Ali to the well. I, 'A'ishah, proposed that the magician be disciplined. Praise is due to Allah, the Prophet proclaimed. He made me well. I no longer enjoy stirring up support for myself.
